Realistic Constraints & Standards

Economic
The main economic concern was the approval of the proposed budget of $10,470. The team has also collected $2,6000 through donations and sponsorships. Another way the team has saved was through reusing components from previous years.

Ethical
The largest ethical concerns were set forth by ASME. The main one was honesty and integrity for the project. Sine we are representing not only ourselves but also the school for SAE, we want to make sure all of our technical work and designs are ours and ours alone.

Manufacturability
Besides some outsourced features such as the shocks, tires, CVT, and seat the rest of the parts for the car were manufactured in the past year using the resources at the TCNJ machine shop. All of this must also be reported to SAE

Sustainability
Reusing gear, parts, and materials from prior teams reduces the amount of material used. The team also plans to recycle materials, such as steel and aluminum, from the current iteration once competition is complete

Standards
SAE provides a list of standards/rules for the competition that encompasses administrative, design, and static and dynamic events. Outside of following the rules to pass technical inspection, SAE also has a list of its own standards for ground vehicles.

Safety
The vehicle implements a 5-point harness, neck brace, wrist restraints, fire extinguisher, and a firewall for safety features. The frame was built with durability in mind and provides protection from rotating objects through the use of a scatter shield and driveshaft loops.
